MART – Museum of modern and contemporary Art of Rovereto and Trento

Coming to Trento province and not stopping to see this pearl of modern and contemporary art is a pity … an integral part of MART is the Depero Futurist Art House.

The MART in Rovereto was inaugurated on 15 December 2002 in a building designed by the Ticino architect Mario Botta, inspired by classic models for shapes. In particular, the futuristic glass and steel dome in front of the museum recalls the most famous of the Pantheon in its lines and shapes. Under the immense dome, a large square is decorated by an evocative fountain in its center.

MART’s permanent collection counts over 20,000 works including paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures. Among others, there are enchanting works by Giorgio Morandi, Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà, the autochthonous futurist Fortunato Depero, and numerous representatives of the major currents of the twentieth century, from Futurism to Abstractionism, to Pop Art up, to the most contemporary artistic experiences.
