Ledro Lake, enchanting colors and scents in every season of the year

A turquoise jewel where the peaks of the Ledro Alps are reflected

Are you looking for a small gem with beautiful colors, a corner where you can enjoy relaxation with a good book and a nice swim, as well as a historical study on how primitive men lived? Ledro Lake is an excellent answer for all this and much more.

Haven’t you been lucky enough to go on this excursion yet? Don’t miss this post for some interesting ideas.

This picturesque alpine lake is about 45 minutes by car from Rovereto, at an altitude of about 650 meters above sea level. After a long tunnel from the Upper Garda of Trento province and a couple of hairpin bends, Val di Ledro suddenly opens up with the lake of the same name. The color of the water is characterized by a transparency that allows you to enjoy treasured fluctuating shades of color with the changing light of the day and the changing seasons of the year.

It’s a swimming lake, especially during the summer season. It’s particularly regenerating for those who want to enjoy relaxation, coolness, and tranquility in the presence of reflected peaks in the transparency of the waters. The lakeside route is particularly recommended. The route isn’t completely passable, but for the almost ten kilometers, it is possible to use the cycle and pedestrian path.

Its unfiltered beauty never leaves you unsatisfied.

It’s particularly appreciated by lovers of sports, especially water sports. It’s possible to practice swimming, cycling, kayaking, sailing, walking and trekking. This well-rounded lake hasn’t yet been the subject of mass tourism that often disfigures the enjoyment of so many magical places in the beloved Italian Alps. The surrounding areas are full of walks for all levels. For families with children, the walk to the Gorg d’abiss waterfall is not to be missed.  For more challenging routes, there are the beautiful paths towards Cima d’Oro, and from Val di Concei towards Partridges Mountain Refuge Cabin.

This emerald in the mountains also preserves an evocative testimony of the distant past, when our distant ancestors populated the shores of Ledro Lake. Have you ever wondered what life in Trento province could have been like in the times of primitive men? The Palafitte Museum of Ledro is a precious and futuristic treasure in the panorama of the Alps. This small but well-designed museum on prehistoric life knows how to amaze and enchant you, also thanks to a wonderful reconstruction of huts along the shore of the lake itself.
