Oriente Occidente Dance Festival

Do you know about the most evocative contemporary dance festival? Dance teaches values such as passion, sacrifice, beauty, pain, and love. These and countless others are the emotions that the Oriente Occidente Festival in Rovereto will give you.

The festival is an excellence in the international context of contemporary dance and dance theater. It was born in Rovereto in 1981, when the Leno Cultural Club organized the ‘Rovereto Musical Theatre 81’ event. Since then, development has taken place thanks to the artistic direction of Lanfranco Cis and Paolo Manfrini, and thanks to the numerous passionate collaborators and volunteers who, over time, have made this festival a precious gem in the panorama of contemporary dance.

The main vocation of the festival is to bring together different cultural identities, styles and languages from all over the world, emotions and suggestions with universal breath. It’s an event in continuous development and growth, and year after year, artists from all over the world perform; for this reason, it’s considered one of the most significant of its kind in Europe.

The event usually falls in the weeks between late August and early September in Rovereto’s theaters and squares. For ten days, you can attend performances by talented professionals every evening.

The city of Rovereto becomes the stage; squares, hallways, and streets become the setting for exhibitions and performances. And not only! The event enriches attendees even more through meetings with choreographers, training stages, and in-depth workshops. Dancers and spectators from all over the world can admire and experience a variety of dance styles: contemporary dance, modern dance, tango, flamenco, African dance, hip hop and break dance, Middle Eastern dances, and many other genres.
